A gathering was held this past Sunday to recognize, celebrate and express gratitude for the significant community presence in the person of Doug Gaetz. Doug has been the face of Delta Funeral Home for many years and has come to his time of retirement. We’ll wait to see what that means for Doug as the next months unfold.

Many families have personally received Doug’s attentive care, his professional guidance and compassionate presence in the tender time around the death of beloved family members and friends. While this was a main focus of the service he offered, Doug’s presence also stretched into numerous other connections within our South Delta community. Involvement in the social service organizations, business associations and faith community ministerial are just a few of the ways Doug sought to engage the fullness of community.

Just to be clear that this is not an obituary, rather it is a tribute of gratitude for Doug’s ongoing, continuing and vital community presence. So if you have the opportunity to say thanks to Doug for the offering of his time, talents and abilities, feel free to do so.

Meeting, working with and getting to know Doug over the past 10 years that I have been in the community has been a blessing and I hope and trust these next years will continue with his significant community presence.
