Minister's Minute: Small turkey, big Thanksgiving

Minister's minute

With large family gatherings discouraged in a year that many people can’t wait to see the end of, it is understandable that folks will have a hard time getting into the Thanksgiving spirit.

But, if you confess Christ as Lord, you have much to be grateful for — everything as a matter of fact. God sent Jesus into the world to forgive your sins, and through that forgiveness save you from eternal death and gift you with eternal life. If ever there was reason to give thanks, it is this! Jesus also promised to be with his disciples through all of life’s challenges.

Before he ascended to be seated at the right hand of his heavenly father, Jesus told his friends, “and remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20)”.

So, regardless of life’s difficulties, and the pains and problems that come your way, Christ, your saviour and friend, is always with you.

This Thanksgiving, take some time to contemplate these extraordinary divine gifts. The turkey might be smaller, and friends and family fewer, but God’s promise and presence to you is as big as ever. Thanks be to God!
