The tragic death of George Floyd, and the continuing protests which followed, have reawakened the world’s conscience to the reality of racism.

Racism has no place in the Christian faith. It is a sin. All human beings are made in the image of God and deserve to be treated as such. The second great commandment of Jesus is to “Love our neighbours as ourselves.” Racism violates this sacred teaching.

In Galatians 3:28, the Apostle Paul declares, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is no longer slave nor free, no longer male nor female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”

The good news is that through Christ, the victims of racism can find healing — healing in knowing that they are loved by God, regardless of how individuals or systems may discriminate against them.

Racists can follow a new and better path by repenting of their sin, receiving God’s forgiveness, and living in a new and loving way by following Jesus’ teachings and example.
