Tsawwassen's Southlands development - billed as "Canada's largest agrihood" - is launching a new weekly farmers market.

Set to debut Saturday, June 19 and hosted by Southlands Grange Centre for Farming and Food, the market is set to run weekly through to December 18 in the Market Square outside the Grange.

Shoppers in the open-air market can expect to find fresh locally-grown produce along with artisan goods of the edible and non-edible variety. Vendors include Four Winds Brewery, Chaerea Jewellery, Vancouver Island Berries, Desirée Blooms and English Bay Mini Donuts and more.

For entertainment, local business Nook Play Studio will be offering on-site supervised art classes and crafting, either via a pop-up art "bar" or registered classes, all for a fee. Parents have the option to pay extra to leave their child in the care of Nook staff. You can pre-book an "Art at the Market" class online.

While onsite at Southlands you can walk around to see what is growing in the allotment gardens or stroll the Earthwise garden. Grab a cup of coffee at Prado cafe, or rent an e-bike from Pedego and cruise down to nearby Centennial Beach.

COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place at the market. Dogs are permitted at Southlands but not within the market itself. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags.
