A local group of students is working with the Tsawwassen-based Tekera Foundation to raise money for an African charity.

Teens for Tekera is raising money to help the primary school at the Tekera Resource Centre in Uganda. The resource centre has many components -- a medical clinic, vocational school, co-operative farms and sustainability projects -- that serve a population of more than 18,000.

Teens for Tekera is hosting a Stuffy Riders fundraiser on Thursday, July 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tsawwassen Mills. They will be set up by the Stuffy Riders location at Entry 6. Rides are $8 for 10 minutes and 50 cents a minute after the first 10. There will be a bake sale table with treats from local bakeries and donuts from Krispy Kreme.

You can stay up to date on the event by visiting their event page (Teens for Tekera Stuffy Riders Fundraiser) on Facebook and by following their Instagram @teensfortekera.
