Gordon MacIntyre is the new head of school at Southpointe Academy in Tsawwassen.

Built on the strong foundation of support and strength extended by the founding families of Tsawwassen, Southpointe is excited to welcome MacIntyre, as it nears its 20th anniversary in 2020.

MacIntyre shares Southpointe’s values and passion for developing authentic academic excellence.

“Southpointe Academy is a school that has developed its reputation for excellence across the different strands of education,” he said. “It is known for its warmth of community, where families share common values around the importance of education.”

MacIntyre has worked in several independent schools across the Lower Mainland and has more than two decades of experience in a diverse number of roles.

Most recently, he served as the Deputy Head of School at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver. During his tenure at Mulgrave, he contributed immensely as a senior administrator and established it as an international leader in delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes from K-12.

As head of school at Southpointe, he wants the school to be known as a place of learning where students feel happy and supported to achieve their personal best.

“They will experience a holistic education that helps them develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically so that they are equipped for success in education, career and citizenship,”he added.

MacIntyre will be joined in the community by his two sons and his wife, who has an extensive IB teaching background, as well as several years of working in leadership roles within the IB.

They are excited to be part of the local community, and want Southpointe to be strongly integrated into the fabric of Tsawwassen, contribute to the greater good and serve the broader local community, as well as its immediate community of students.
