St. Andrew’s Anglican Church is hosting an events for single parents Sept. 28.

Are you a single parent? Have you raised a child in the past? Are you currently raising children? St. Andrew’s Anglican Church would like to invite you to our Single Parents Gathering. Dinner is free for you and your kids.

We know that being a single parent and raising children on your own can be hard. As a church, we hope to lighten that load by providing a free evening with fun for the kids, free dinner, along with social enjoyment for parents and informative speakers.

The event is for allwomen and men of any age who are currently raising children on your own or have raised children and are now widowed, divorced or unmarried, including foster parents, adoptive parents or something rather quite complex. All are invited.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, we will be hosting an event for all single parents in our community who would like to join us for a social gathering where they can meet other single parents, have childcare for the evening, free dinner, enjoy kiosks, door prizes and two fantastic guest speakers.

First, we have invited Sophie Nenno from Nenno Behaviour Consultation Services. Nenno is a child therapist with 11 years of experience in the field of child behaviour. She will provide us with insight on managing challenging behaviours with children and will speak to us specifically about engaging children in relevant issues like technology, sleep habits, anxiety and eating.

For our second guest speaker, we are grateful to have VinceOlfert, who is a certified financial planner from Singer Olfert Financial Group.Olfert specializes in helping business owners and their employees build and protect their wealth. He will be speaking to us about managing our own personal finances and building financial success for our futures. Olfert continually strives to find new ways to communicate complex financial concepts so they are easy to understand.

Over the course of the evening we will have time for socializing, eating, listening to the speakers, chatting with the speakers, visiting the kiosks and making new friends.

Should you bring your children? Absolutely. We love children. We have designed a special program for your kids, ages three to 12. Our trained childcare team will provide the kids with snacks, dinner, games, interactive playtime, skits, fun Bible stories, laughs and much more. Children outside of these ages are welcome to remain with you during the program.

The Single Parents Gatheringruns from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, which meets at the Tsawwassen Alliance Church building at 4951-12th Ave. in Tsawwassen. Register by Sept. 20 by emailing eventsÆ1@standrewsdeltabc.org or call Dawn Magee at 604-943-8094.
