Generous long-time supporters, government officials, sponsors and volunteers, joined by puppies in training and adult service dogs, came together on Saturday, May 11 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver to raise funds for the Delta-based BC & Alberta Guide Dog Services.

The evening raised thousands towards guide dog, autism support dog and PTSD service dog programs for individuals and families across B.C. and Alberta.

“We would like to thank everyone who played a part in creating such a wonderful evening,” said CEO Bill Thornton. “Their dedication and support helps make a life-changing difference for people who are blind and visually impaired, children with profound autism and military and RCMP veterans living with post-traumatic stress.”

Speakers Mark Bentz, Stéphane Marcotte and Denise Jansen brought the crowd to its feet with amazing stories of how their guide and service dogs have changed their lives. Their courage was evident throughout their thoughtful testimonials.

MC Steve Darling did an excellent job managing the evening’s proceedings and auctioneer Ian Paton, the MLA for Delta South, made sure that bids came in fast for the evening’s silent and live auction items.
