Toastmasters leaders from across B.C. recently met at the Tsawwassen Mills for a full day of leadership training.

Hosted by the Ambassadors-Tsawwassen Mills Toastmasters Club, the training session was led by District 21 director, and Distinguished Toastmaster, Shawn Gold.

“The Toastmasters educational program is a powerful tool for communication and leadership development. It builds skills and self-confidence,” Gold says. “Intensive district training allows all our leaders to expand their skills and become more well-rounded leaders.”

District 21 provides support to nearly 150 Toastmasters clubs and 2,000-plus members across half the province.

Local clubs are preparing for the Toastmasters International Speech Contest, culminating at the World Championship of Public Speaking in Denver this August.

Toastmasters International is a worldwide nonprofit educational organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, the organization's membership exceeds 357,000 in more than 16,600 clubs in 143 countries.

The Ambassadors-Tsawwassen Mills Toastmasters Club meets on the second, third and fourth Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. Guests are always welcome. For more information, visit http://www.ambassadorstoastmasters.org/.
