Shannon Wood will be spinning and teaching for 24 hours -- all for a great cause.

The fitness instructor at Muscle Memory in Tsawwassen will be holding a 24-hour Spin-A-Thon from 9 a.m. on Friday, May 24 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 25.

The fundraiser is in support of Delta Hospital and the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

“Ever since my mom passed away from cancer I have wanted to do this,” said Wood. “After watching her suffer through cancer for over a year without a break and seeing how Delta Hospital and the cancer clinic took good care of her, I wanted to give back to them and honour her and others living with cancer.”

Participants wishing to spin along with Wood can sign up at Muscle Memory for one, two or three spin classes by donating $15 or more and enjoy a great workout.

Muscle Memory is also encouraging others to stop by during the 24 hours to hang out, encourage Wood and others.

Food will be provided by Jarry’s Market, while beer, wine and other refreshments will be provided by Christopher Stewart.

Wood’s fundraising goal is $5,000.

“People with cancer usually do not get a break from the disease, so 24 hours of spinning seemed like the least I could do and raise money at the same time,” she said. “People in our community will at some time, I’m sure, interact with Delta Hospital and most know someone who had dealt with cancer.”

Class registration is available at the studio (5670-12th Ave.) or by email: rob@musclememory.ca.
