South Delta twin sisters Effy and Raine Southard, 24, will be showing their new collection next Wednesday at Vancouver Fashion Week.

“We are feeling a bit nervous, but mostly excited. Showing a collection at Vancouver Fashion Week has been a dream of ours since we were kids, so we have a lot of emotions going into this,” they said in an email to the Optimist.

They started their fashion line, Blood Moon, last year shortly after they graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design and Technology from the Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

The South Delta Secondary grads, will be showing their Spirited Away collection.

“As always, we began with our inspirations of nature and our own poetry to guide our designs. The ‘Spirited Away’ collection is based around a transcending wind, so each runway look is designed through cut, fit, and style to portray movement.”

A press release notes Blood Moon offers clothing, swimwear, and jewelry to the sophisticated and minimalistic, gothic woman. Every collection tells a story, with each piece being driven by selected poetry written by the twin sisters, who live in Tsawwassen.

Vancouver Fashion Week takes place from March 18 to 24 at David Lam Hall in Vancouver. For tickets and more details visit www.vanfashionweek.com.
