A group of South Delta Artists Guild members are coming together to present a private show.
The Vivid Art Show runs from Aug. 29 to Sept. 8 at Gallery 1710 adjacent to the South Delta Recreation Centre in Tsawwassen.
An opening reception will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. There will also be free art prize draws starting at 3 p.m.
The show itself is available for public viewing Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The featured artists include: Sharee Reynolds, Gillian Olson, Mary Ellen Bullock, Pat Thorson and Catherine Sheppard.
Sheppard said the artists created friendships and connections through the guild.
“Some of them met me because I also teach pastel at home,” said Sheppard. “Some of them have joined our club because of the art classes and once a month I teach three who are in this private show. For the past five years I’ve been a part of the guild and put my pictures up just like everyone else and some asked whether I teach. I didn’t think about teaching people, but I thought I could give it a try.”
From there artists guilds in Richmond and Peach Arch asked her to teach as well.
“This private show will be a mixture of pastel, watercolour and acrylic, so it will be a mixed variety of mediums,” said Sheppard. “I came up with Vivid for the private show and the group because Vivid is what we do, it’s a description of art and colour.
“We’re all looking forward to the show and showcasing our work. Some people really do like coming into see what art is novo or different in the community so it’s a good thing to spread the word.”
