The 2020 US Election is less than one week away, and it could be the single-most popular betting event in the history of PlayNow.com, with approximately 10,000 bets expected to be placed by the time Americans head to the polls.
A lot has changed since both Donald Trump and Joe Biden hit the campaign trail two months ago. Biden has gone from humble 4/5 odds to a more resounding favourite at 10/19 odds, compared to the incumbent Trump, who went from 51/50 to much loftier 33/20 odds.
However, while Biden remains the overwhelming favourite, it’s Trump who continues to receive the majority of backing from PlayNow.com bettors. In fact, 44 per cent of bets have money on Trump to win a second term, compared to Biden’s 27 per cent (other non-candidates account for the remaining 29 per cent).
The 10,000 expected bets on the 2020 US Election would smash the previous PlayNow.com record for most bets on a single event. The 2016 US Election currently holds that distinction with approximately 7,200 bets, making it more popular than any Super Bowl, Stanley Cup Playoffs or NBA Playoffs.
