The Delta Choral Society presents is spring concert entitled Connections with a pair of shows next Saturday, April 30 at South Delta Baptist Church in Tsawwassen.

The Delta Choral Society has been working hard in rehearsals as it prepares for its spring concert.

Next Saturday, April 30, the Choral Society presents Connections featuring three wonderful choirs and an eclectic mix of choral music - from intimate, a cappella pieces, to full massed choir anthems.

Shows will take place at 2 and 6:30 p.m. at South Delta Baptist Church in Tsawwassen.

“We chose the theme of connections because it is particularily relevant right now. We want to capture the essence of connections whether that is personal connections, community connections, global connections,” said Choral Society media liaison Julie Lymburner. “I think through the pandemic we all recognized the fragility of our connections in our lives and have become more conscious of that, so we thought this would be a nice opportunity for both our singers and our audiences, to feel the importance of connections and pause to take time on April 30 and reflect on the importance of that.”

Lymburner said between all three choirs, there will be more than 70 singers who will take to the stage next week.

Rehearsals have been a bit of a challenge as the choir has navigated the changing provincial health orders.

“We are doing full in-person rehearsals once a week and we wear masks. In order to be a part of the choir you also have to be fully vaccinated,” she said. “We were able to perform in front an audience at Christmas time and we performed with masks. It is still up in the air whether we will be able to do that with our spring concert. Cathrie Yuen, our artistic director, has selected a very challenging selection of music. She really wants us to learn and grow with each song.”

Tickets for the show are available online at: www.deltachoral.ca, from choir members, or may be purchased at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, while children under 10 are free.
