Poetry writing contest
DLAS will award monetary prizes to first ($100), second ($75), and third place ($50) with three honourable mentions.

The Delta Literary Arts Society (DLAS) is launching its inaugural Poetry Contest where everyone from literary novices to professionals are welcome to throw their hat into the ring.

“We’re excited to provide a forum for local writers to share their work,” said Diana Calliou, DLAS treasurer and author of the book of poetry, Garden of Mystery. “We hope all writers consider submitting as we are looking forward to reading all the poems.”

DLAS will award monetary prizes to first ($100), second ($75), and third place ($50) with three honourable mentions. All six winners will be published on the DLAS’ website and its annual anthology, By the Mouth of the River.

Contest judge will be poet and long-time Delta resident, Barbara Baydala. A graduate of the SFU Writer’s Studio, Baydala’s writing has appeared places such as Emerge 2013, CV2, The Haro, and Geist where she was the winner of the 11th Annual Literal Literary Postcard Contest.

Check DLAS’ website https://dlas.ca/ or Facebook page for submission details and contest guidelines. The final deadline of the contest will be April 1, 2022.

Submit the poem, alongside a cover letter to contest.dlas@gmail.com. Submission fee is $10 for DLAS members; $20 for non-members. The Paypal link can be found on the website. One poem per entry.
