Earthwise marks harvest with Tomato Festival

Event to feature produce, food and artisan vendors, flower arrangements, pancake breakfast and entertainment

Earthwise Society is celebrating an abundant tomato harvest with its Tomato Festival at the fourth Earthwise Market Day of the season on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The irresistible heirloom tomatoes (over 40 varieties!) grown at Earthwise will be put on display and showcased for comparison of colours, smells, and tastes. Browse the smorgasbord of organically grown treats - try an exotic Thai Pink Egg tomato, or perhaps a Yellow Cookie or a black African Queen variety.

The Tomato Festival will feature freshly harvested produce from the Earthwise Farm along with local food and artisan vendors. Customized flower arrangements from the Earthwise Garden will be made to order, and our ecological gardening experts will help you select plants from the Earthwise Nursery for your home fall gardening projects.

Start your day in a yummy way with a pancake breakfast prepared by the Tsawwassen Lions club, from 10 to 11 a.m. Later.

You can enjoy the taste of Earthwise tomatoes with pizza fresh from outdoor cob oven.

Enjoy your food with music. Earthwise Market Days are a showcase for local musical talent.

Featured are the hip sounds of Social Revolts and the catchy tunes of the JPegs. Social Revolts features the young dynamic duo of Kenzie Peters and Taylor Reynold, covering favorites from artist ranging from Tom Petty to the Jackson 5.

Back again at Earthwise are the popular JPegs, Jenny Lundgren and Peg Keenleyside.

The JPegs have been performing together since 2009, sharing vocals, rich harmonies and acoustic guitars on a wide range of pop standards, Canadian folk classics and contemporary singer-songwriter tunes. The JPegs also offer kids songs that invite young audience participation, so bring the family and your dancing shoes, and plan to enjoy the show.

Earthwise Market Days are a community experience, unique to the Earthwise Farm.
