Hawthorne student makes catwalk debut at Vancouver Kids Fashion Week

It was some advice from his grandfather that helped Aidan Atwal impress judges at the modelling auditions

Aiden Atwal may just have a future on the catwalk.

The seven-year-old Grade 2 student at Hawthorne Elementary in Ladner made his modelling debut as part of this month’s Vancouver Kids Fashion Week, an event dedicated to children’s fashion and creativity.

It was some advice from his grandfather that might have won the judges over when Aidan attended the modelling auditions.

“We went to day two of the model casting,” explained his mom Anita.

He had been practicing his walk and pose for about two weeks.

“When we got to the casting he showed them his walk and pose and did a wink at the end which he thinks got him the gig,” she recalled. “His grandpa told him to do that last minute. It was about a week later we were told he was picked to walk the show!”

Aiden was among the day one models wearing the latest trends from Peekaboo (PK) Beans, a B.C. based children’s apparel brand.

“The day of the show Aiden was cool as a cucumber and had a blast trying something new,” Anita added. “He’s definitely got the modelling bug and will also be featured in the April edition of Kids CAN magazine.”
