Saturday, June 16 marked the 31st Annual Jog for a Jug in Point Roberts. The race is an 11.2-kilometre run and includes a Jog for a Mug 1-km race for the kids with all proceeds donated to the Hannah Hatlen Foundation to fund pediatric brain cancer research.

"We had over 70 kids again this year," said store sponsor Kevin Ridley from the RunInn. "It was a fantastic turnout this year. We have a close connection to Hannah through some of our running clinic members and we hope that we can continue to support Hannah's cause through this event every year. We have a school challenge which is awarded to the kids and the school with the most participants. This year, the school challenge was won once again by South Park Elementary."

The 11-km adult race had over 200 runners and walkers and was won by Danny Groening in a time of 43: 15 while Courtney McEwan won the women's race in a great time of 46: 28.

The Jog for a Jug is kind of a throw back to the old style fun runs where runners of all levels can come and run in a casual atmosphere. There aren't too many races where you get a jug of beer and a post race barbecue when you finish, all while enjoying the most beautiful view in Point Roberts.

"The Jog for a Jug has been a great event for 31 years and we hope we can keep growing the event to continue to help out Hannah's Heroes," says Kevin.
