Most of the artists involved in the Lea & Friends exhibit will be at an opening reception on Sept. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m.

A total of 13 artists will have work on display at the upcoming Lea & Friends exhibit at the Tsawwassen Longhouse Gallery.

"The show's got lots of colour. Everybody is going their own direction," says artist and teacher Lea Price.

Each of the artists in the show has been a student of hers, she notes.

"What I try to do is listen to the artists themselves and then try to get them to the path they want to go to."

The show will feature paintings in mostly acrylics and mixed media as well as sculptures from artist Yorke Graham.

"He's really clever," says Price. "He takes all sorts of found materials ... puts them together and makes some quite funky caricatures or some larger garden features."

The artists, most of whom will have at least five pieces in the show, are all

members of the South Delta Artists Guild.

"Some have been painting for 15 to 20 years and some have only been painting for maybe two years," Price says.

The art show runs from Sept. 17 to 29 at the Tsawwassen Longhouse Gallery, 1710-56th St. (adjacent to the South Delta Recreation Centre).

There will be an opening reception, with most of the artists in attendance, on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m.
