. Canoeing at Deas Slough will take place Thursday, July 5 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Learn basic paddling techniques and tour the serene, sheltered waters of Deas Slough. Hear stories of the Fraser River's past and learn about local features as you paddle by farmland, fishing boats and rich estuary wetlands. This is a great opportunity to view eagle nests, herons and bog orchids.

All equipment provided, but you must bring life jackets for children under 23 kilograms.

The program is for ages six and up. It costs $21.25 per person. Registration required, call: 604-432-6359.

. Bats of Burrvilla is set for Friday, July 6 from 8: 15 to 10: 15 p.m.

Follow the flight of these fascinating mammals. Listen for their hunting sonar using a bat detector as they dash and dart in search of mosquitoes and moths. Learn about the mysteries of their nocturnal life as you experience their world.

The program is for ages six and up. It costs $4.25 for youth and seniors, $8 for adults, or $21.25 per family.
