It’s been eight years since North Delta’s Meghan Anderssen has been on the stage, and she says she couldn’t be more honoured to make her return in the hilarious production of Nunsense alongside four brilliant co-stars.
Presented by Boone Dog Productions, Nunsense – a spoof following the misadventures and mishaps of five nuns trying to run a fundraiser – is at the Metro Theatre stage from Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 27.
Anderssen will be playing the role of the befuddled, puppet-wielding Sister Mary Amnesia, and she says she is looking forward to the opportunity to perform for a live audience again.
“For me, live theatre has always been magical – like, you’re getting feedback from the audience in real time, you’re able to connect,” she said. “Especially with this show, we break the fourth wall and I’ve got a lot of audience interaction, which I’m very excited about. Having that connection with people, not through a computer screen, but having [an] actual live, in-person relationship with the audience is magical.”
In addition to professional acting, singing and dancing, teaching and directing, Anderssen also recently took on videography to shift away from her more performance-based roles during the pandemic.
“[Returning to the stage], it feels like coming home. In more ways than one, I’ve always felt at home on stage,” she says.
For those who come out to Metro Theatre to watch Nunsense, Anderssen hopes that people let their hair down and enjoy the hilarity and heartfelt moments that ensue.
