If you have time to spare, like meeting new people and would like to make a difference in your community, the Hospice Cottage Charity Shoppe would appreciate your help.

The Delta Hospice Society is hosting a Cottage Recruitment Tea on Thursday, Oct. 3 and welcomes anyone interested in finding out more about volunteer roles at the Hospice Cottage Charity Shoppe to attend. The tea will take place at the Centre for Supportive Care, 4631 Clarence Taylor Cres., Ladner, from 1 to 3 p.m. The Tsawwassen store welcomes new male and female volunteers to both day and evening shifts. Four-hour shifts are encouraged, but any time you can offer is appreciated. No experience is necessary, just a desire to help out.

Volunteers perform a wide range of duties from sorting and pricing donations, cashiering, organizing and tidying, to assisting customers and checking electronics and small appliances. There are many more specialized roles available with full training and support within a team environment.

Students can also fulfill their high school community service requirement while gaining retail experience or enhance their resume.

Day shifts are available seven days a week, while evening shifts, from 4 to 7 p.m., are Tuesday to Thursday.

All of the funds raised at the Hospice Cottage Charity Shoppe allow the Delta Hospice Society to provide information, resources, counseling and specialized programs at no cost to the community.
