Woodworkers host open house tomorrow at Ladner workshop

The Ladner Woodworkers will be holding an open house tomorrow.

The Ladner Woodworkers will be holding an open house tomorrow.

There will be members around to answer questions and show examples of projects that have been completed using the shop equipment, says Michael Hughes, who's on the group's board of directors.

The club welcomes people with all levels of experience, he says, adding that novice woodworkers are asked to go through a safety orientation to learn how to use the tools so no one gets hurt.

"But we also have several of the older members who will mentor some of the less experienced members - they just have to ask," says Hughes.

In the past the club, which currently has around 70 members, has run several teaching programs for the Christian Reformed Church and a couple local schools.

The non-profit club, which was started in 1976 with eight members, has a workshop with tools and equipment.

Annual membership fees are $135 for an individual or $150 for a family (those under 16 have to be supervised by a parent while in the shop).

The open house is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The club is located behind the Ladner Christian Reformed Church at 4594-54A St. Visit ladnerwoodworkers.com for more information.
