Brass, Wind and Wire meets weekly

Jocelyn Demers’ documentary takes a look at ecologically responsible farming

The Delta Concert Band will mark its 50th anniversary with a special concert next week at the Ladner Community Centre. The group has invited its former members to the performance and around 25 so far have said they’ll be attending.

Guitarist Doug Towle and De La Terra are set to perform at the next live@5005 concert series date at Genesis Theatre on Friday, Oct. 17.

Three weeks ago local artist Jacqueline Dunn was in Tianjin, China showing 40 of her paintings commissioned by a Chinese art dealer, who had seen her work at the South Delta Artists Guild’s Gallery 1710.

The next Songwriter Café takes place Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at St. David’s Anglican Church, 1115-51A St., Tsawwassen. A $10 admission fee includes free coffee, tea and desserts. Open mic starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tsawwassen singer and guitarist Jarome Lochkrin performs at the Wood N Frog Coffee Company tonight at 7 p.m.

Filming began earlier this month on Last Night in Suburbia, a movie set in South Delta that follows the adventures of a group of recent high school graduates on their last night before heading off to college.
