After 33 years at ladner chevron williams family saying goodbye

Trunk Road station to be converted into mini mart with self-serve pumps

After more than 30 years of keeping local drivers moving, Bob Williams is moving on.

Williams owned and operated the Chevron service station on Ladner Trunk Road at 52A Street up until Wednesday.

The location was one of the last full service stations in the province, he said.

A decision was made to convert the Ladner location into one of the more modern stations with a convenience store and self-serve fuel.

Williams said some full service pumps will remain however the rest were converted to self-serve by Wednesday afternoon. The automotive service bay has been closed.

Over the years, Williams was involved in many facets of the sports community - soccer, lacrosse, hockey - and provided much support and sponsorship to local teams.

On Tuesday, friends, family, former employees and people from the community gathered in the station's parking lot for a farewell barbecue.

"I'd just like to thank the community for 33 years of patronage," Williams said this week.

Williams said anyone wishing to contact him can call 604-612-7086.
