Commuter flights offered from Pt. Roberts

A Bellingham-based commuter airline is now able to run regular service to and from Point Roberts.

The Federal Aviation Administration recently granted authority for Northwest Sky Ferry to list Point Roberts as a regular airport for scheduled operations. That's enabled the airline to run scheduled flights combining passengers, a service it's calling "flight pooling."

"In the past we'd have two separate parties that wanted to fly to Point Roberts and we could only take one at a time," says Skip Jansen, Northwest Sky Ferry owner and general manager. "Rather than a charter rate, we can actually now sell seats."

The concept of flightpooling is similar to carpooling and by filling up the plane customers are able to reduce the per seat price, according to the airline.

"Ideally the folks at Point Roberts will communicate with their friends and neighbours and arrange flight schedules that work for multiple parties, thereby benefiting everyone," the airline states in a press release.

Northwest Sky Ferry states it's the only commuter airline approved to run regular service to and from Point Roberts,

Northwest Sky Ferry specializes in flights between Bellingham, San Juan Islands and Canada, as well as most other locations in the Northwest. For more information visit NWSkyferry.com or call 360-676-9999.
