Earlier this week, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.

Some local businesses are taking to social media announcing measures they’re taking in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Ladner’s Stir Coffee House noted in a post to Facebook yesterday that “in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we want to assure you that we are taking the necessary steps so that we can welcome the company that comes through our doors everyday, as usual, and ensure you enjoy your stay.”

The post notes temporary measures Stir is implementing include suspending the use of personal cups, encouraging using the various “Tap” methods as payment, removing the self-serve water station and removing all items from the condiment bar (cream, sugars, lids, stir sticks, etc.).

The Boca Grande Donut Shop in Ladner stated in a Facebook post this morning that, “we want to ensure that the health and safety of everybody is our number one concern at all times, especially during the current situation at hand.”

The post highlighted measures the business is taking, like proper hand washing, wearing single use gloves during production, using hand sanitizer, sanitizing all surfaces with disinfecting wipes/sanitizer as often as possible and moving all coffee and condiments behind the counter.

Boca Grande asks guests follow proper hygiene procedures, including using the Tap payment option.

“We are taking this very seriously, and we believe that everybody else should be as well,” the post adds.

Barnside Brewing Co. said in a Facebook post that it’s “continually cleaning public surfaces throughout the day, thoroughly sanitizing glassware and other point of contact items (including growler fill hoses) and communicating with customers about any concerns.”

It asks customers to “wash your hands frequently, try to use Tap instead of cash, and be aware of a need for more personal space.”

Four Winds Brewing Company announced it’s putting a hold on growler fills for the time being.
