On Thursday, communities throughout Canada, including South Delta, will make miracles happen for children during the ninth annual Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day.

Proceeds from each Blizzard sold at participating locations will be donated to Children's Miracle Network - a charity that raises funds for more than 170 children's hospitals across Canada and the United States.

"Every year Canadians blow us away with their support for Miracle treat Day," said Denise Hutton, vice-president of marketing for Dairy Queen Canada.

"Last year, Canadians bought a record 600,000 Blizzards and raised over $2.2 million for Children's Miracle Network. We hope to top that once again this summer."

Delta-based company Analytic Systems announced last week that it was awarded the subcontract to manufacture the power supply for the U.S. Army's Modern Burner Unit (MBU) program through the Energy Solutions Division of Teleflex Canada.

After an exhaustive evaluation of power supply manufacturers on both sides of the border, Analytic Systems was selected to manufacture the power supplies for the program.

Two years of development and testing culminated in Analytic Systems initially being certified as the manufacturer and supplier of the MBU power supply in late 2002. Since then, more than 10,000 units are now in theatres and have enjoyed a less than 0.01 per cent return rate.
