Makeover completed in a flash

C'est Moi only had to close for a day in order to receive its new look

A staple on Tsawwassen's shopping scene has a new look.

C'est Moi, which is located in the Tsawwassen Shopping Centre on the corner of 56th Street and 12th Avenue, has a whole new look and, thanks to a local contractor, only had to be closed for one day to achieve it.

Owner Henriette Leschert said it all started when she decided the store, which has been in business in Tsawwassen for 11 years, needed a third fitting room. She said with only two rooms, during peak times customers faced long waits to try on clothes.

With the addition of the new fitting room, Leschert decided to renovate the rest of the store as well with new flooring, paint and light fixtures. Initially she was told that in order to get the work done she would have to close to store for upwards of seven to eight days.

"I knew I couldn't be down for that long," she said.

However, when she reviewed the project with local contractor Rob Scaife, he told her he could get the job done in just two.

C'est Moi is usually closed on Mondays, so with the project commencing after closing on Saturday, Leschert only had to close for one day.

She said there were a few last minute finishing touches to complete but the store was open as usual on Tuesday.

In designing the new look for the women's clothing store, Leschert said she wanted to pay tribute to Tsawwassen's marine location and give the store an open, beachy feel.

Light coloured walls and flooring give the small store a more open feeling and really showcase the clothes, while the new globe lights in the window and near the fitting rooms give a whimsical feeling to the space.

Leschert said she has an extremely loyal local clientele and she tried to use as many local businesses in her renovation.

"That's the thing about Tsawwassen, the people are very loyal," she said. "I feel truly blessed to work and live in this wonderful community."

Leschert said she likes to give her store a distinct flavour - carrying lines such as Michael Kors and Sandwich.

"You're not stepping down when you shop local," she said.
