Man arrested after found with concealed weapon

Routine check turns up a kitchen knife in a sheath

The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Monday, July 25 and Monday, Aug.

1:

LADNER

. July 25, 8: 45 a.m., 6100-block of Ferry Road: Unknown suspect slashed tires of a parked car, causing $400 damage.

. July 27, 5: 10 p.m., 6400-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Suspect stole a package of chips and was confronted by store staff in the parking lot. Suspect left scene prior to police attendance.

. July 28, 2: 50 p.m., 5200-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Suspect purchased two $100 gift certificates using counterfeit US $100 bills. Fake bills and video surveillance seized.

. July 28, between noon and 5 p.m., 5100-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Unknown suspect entered a fenced jobsite and stole a $3,000 Hilti drill. Theft was not discovered until the next day.

. July 29, 8 p.m., 2700block of 64th Street: Victim left her purse inside unlocked vehicle and went to walk her dog on the dike. Victim returned to find her wallet and ID missing from purse.

. July 30, 3 p.m., 5800block of 51st Avenue: Victim discovered the insurance papers for his vehicle were missing from the glove box. Vehicle had been left unlocked on the driveway for several days.

TSAWWASSEN

. July 25, 4: 25 a.m., 1500-block of 56th Street: Routine check of a male showed a warrant for his arrest. Search of the suspect revealed a kitchen knife in a sheath tucked into the small of the suspect's back. Suspect arrested for concealed weapon and held in custody.

. July 26, 10: 55 a.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Store staff members witnessed suspect conceal a bottle of liquor under his clothing and attempt to leave without paying. Police attended and arrested a male for shoplifting.

. July 30, 7: 25 p.m., 5500-block of 9th Avenue: Victim left his electric skateboard inside a parked car while he played baseball with friends. Victim returned to find the skateboard missing from his unlocked vehicle. Value: $750.

. July 30, 1 to 5 a.m., 600-block of English Bluff Road: Victim attended a house party, and sometime during the event someone removed his Macbook Pro from his backpack. Value: $1,000.

. Aug 1, 1 a.m., 5200block of 6th Avenue: Complainant attempted to stop three young males from damaging a parked car. Suspects fled towards Tralee Crescent and hopped over a fence. Complainant requested homeowner contact police. Area checked, but suspects gone on police arrival. Damage to car antennae: $100.
