A Wild Bird Centers franchise has landed in South Delta.

Owners Michael Raincock and Susan Mitchell, a husband and wife team, opened their store at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall early last month.

Things have gone very well, says Raincock.

"A lot of people told us they were waiting for us to open," he says.

Customers can find pretty well anything they want that pertains to birding, he notes, adding the store stocks about a dozen kinds of bird seed, birdfeeders, bird houses, accessories, books, field guides, binoculars, spotting scopes, hats, stationary, cards and gift items.

Raincock, who has a lifelong passion for birding, and Mitchell, (who ran her family's gift store business) have lived in Tsawwassen for 20 years and know the local area is a hot spot for birding.

"This is the most fantastic place to watch birds in Canada, I think, maybe even North America.

There's a community here that's really, really into birds big time," says Raincock.

There are around 100 Wild Bird Centers outlets serving communities across the United States and Canada. The chain began in 1985 in a suburb of Washington, D.C.

The new Wild Bird Centers store can be reached at 604-943-5780.

The business has a website at www.wildbird. com/delta.
