Playpodz, a new Tsawwassen-based business, has developed a "mobile gaming arena."

The setup, housed in a 26-foot trailer, includes four 55-inch TVs, tactile feedback benches, sound and lighting effects, and a range of multiplayer games for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.

"Right now, we're just trying to get known. It's a new concept," says Playpodz business director Colin Lowndes.

Up to 16 players can game at the same time, Lowndes notes, adding the family business is geared for events like birthday parties, dry grad festivities, office parties and fundraisers.

Lowndes, who used to work in airport management, says he was looking for a fun business idea and saw several companies in the U.S. offering a similar experience.

He notes Playpodz has a number of games to pick from, including sports and racing titles as well as first person shooters.

"We are not just for kids - you can't beat playing Halo or Black Ops with a group of your co-workers or friends," he says.

The business is accepting bookings throughout Greater Vancouver by phone at 604-218-7978 and online at www.playpodz. com.

Party packages are a minimum of two hours and range from $299 to $349.
