Dress for Success will be harvesting fall fashions this week as South Coast Casuals hosts its second clothing drive for the Vancouver organization.

The three-day event, which began Thursday and runs through to Saturday, will support Dress for Success in its efforts to empower women to look and feel their best.

Dress for Success Vancouver promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and life.

Each Dress for Success client receives a suit for her interviews and a small working wardrobe when she gets her job. The suits given to clients symbolize the faith that Dress for Success has in every woman's ability to succeed.

Individuals may donate clean, gently worn women's clothing, purses and shoes that are suitable for job interviews and work environments. Anyone who donates items will receive a thank you gift from South Coast Casuals and be entered in a draw for a $200 Conrad C gift certificate.

This is the second time South Coast Casuals has hosted a clothing drive for Dress for Success. The previous one in March collected over 1,400 pieces of clothing, 300 handbags and 150 pairs of shoes.

At that time, Dress for Success executive director Deborah Twocock complimented the supporters on the quantity and quality of items they generously donated.

South Coast Casuals has organized this second clothing drive at the request of its customers. Many individuals wished to donate items from their fall and winter wardrobe and were ecstatic that Dress for Success could benefit from their closet cleaning.

South Coast Casuals is a family-owned clothing business that has operated at 5028-48th Ave. in Ladner Village for the past 17 years. The store is committed to giving back to the community and beyond.
