The Business Improvement Association (BIA) of Tsawwassen and 68 local businesses recently held the Tsawwassen Christmas Shopping Challenge, a month-long chance to shop at local merchants for a chance to share in $1,000 Tsawwassen Shopping Dollars.

"I recently moved to Tsawwassen with my family from the East Coast and my wife and I really enjoyed this promotion. It gave us an opportunity to visit many of the local shops and at the same time get our shopping for the holiday season done," said Kevin Brown, the grand prize winner of $250 Tsawwassen Shopping Dollars.

"We loved this promotion! My family is very excited that we won - and from all our local shopping we did we already know what we are going to buy with our Tsawwassen dollars," added Shannon House, second prize winner of $150 Tsawwassen Shopping Dollars.

Roberta Bradshaw was the third prize winner of $100 Tsawwassen Shopping Dollars.

With a minimum of five stamps collected from local shopping, there were 10 other winners of $50 Tsawwassen Shopping Dollars: Dee Dee McKim, Sue Bristol, Ian Gleadhill, Cathy Guindon, Kevin O'Brien, Lani Image, Susan Jackson, Barbara Raynor, Sandy Simpson and Steve Smith.

BIA promotions aim to raise awareness of the economic activity generated by the town centre, both in product made locally and in the service, retail and professional sectors.

"This promotion gave an opportunity to feature our local businesses and reward those shoppers who choose to support them," said BIA executive director Ana Arciniega.
