A Tsawwassen partnership of Kemp Construction Management and Sarah Gallop Design Inc. has secured a finalist nomination in the category of ‘Best Certified Home – Custom’ in the 2022 Georgie Awards.

The awards, which are in their 30th year, celebrate excellence in home building and renovation in B.C.'s residential construction industry. The Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC hands out the honours each year.

This is a particularly important recognition of the commitment Kemp has made to building homes that meet or exceed traditional building standards. In the case of this project – the home is considered a Net Zero Ready house that will be the standard for all residential homes by 2032.  This home is ready to produce as much energy as it consumes. Kemp is the first Delta builder to have completed a Net Zero labelled home as part of their new certification as a Net Zero Builder.

The owners of this home wanted to build for the future of their family with a commitment to energy efficiency. This custom home was built in a factory-controlled environment, delivered to the site, and had the frame up in about two weeks. The energy performance of the home is a function of window choices, door systems, foundation, mechanical systems and more. For a case study of this build, or to see a walkthrough video of the completed home, you can visit: https://kempconstruction.ca/project/building-a-high-performance-home-in-burnaby/.

The awards gala will be held on June 4 at Vancouver’s Hyatt Regency.

Sarah Gallop Design Inc. meanwhile has topped the nominees list with 12 finalists.

Some of the highlights include:

• Best Residential Renovation $1,000,000 and over, Best Kitchen Renovation over $150,000, & Best Interior Design Custom Residence – New or Renovation finalists were named to Sarah Gallop Design with Delta’s Best Builders Ltd. for a whole home transformation in Vancouver.

• Best Kitchen Renovation over $150,000 finalist was named to Teragon Developments and Construction Inc. with Sarah Gallop Design Inc. for a kitchen renovation that brought a dated Delta home back to life.

• Best Builders Ltd. is in the running for eight Georgie Awards including Residential Renovator of the Year.

“There has never been a better time to take a moment to celebrate this incredible, resilient industry,” said Neil Moody, CEO of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia. “Despite a year rife with wildfires, floods, devastation and a worldwide pandemic, our home building and renovation members continued to work hard, keep people employed, and build homes – all while raising the bar on innovation, quality and design excellence.”
