Tsawwassen’s Margaret Ryding has created a snow lady in tribute of Dr. Bonnie Henry, which is on display at Tsawwassen Mills.

Navigating through 2020 has been a challenge for most, and many have found understanding and encouragement through a very inspirational figure, Dr. Bonnie Henry. Tsawwassen’s Margaret Ryding was someone who received a lot of hope from the Provincial Health Officer.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, she felt the need to create something special.

After listening to the reports given by Dr. Henry at 3 p.m. every day, with her calming voice, sincere manner and caring attitude for everyone in B.C. she became a very special person to her and her family.

“She became my inspiration” Ryding said. “I started to create a snow lady who grew to 40” tall and with the help from my friend Deb Topley, a wonderful decorator, Dr. Bonnie Henry, our beautiful snow lady began. To be able to create this special project during the early part of the pandemic, with my good friend Deb, gave me the strength to cope with what was happening around me.”

The snow lady display is now on at Tsawwassen Mills, as part of the upcoming Silk Threads pop-up shop, which runs today (Thursday) through Sunday selling hand-crafted local products for the holidays.

“I had heard that there might be an opportunity to have a pop-up shop at Tsawwassen Mills and knew I had to pursue this for Silk Threads,” added Ryder. “Tsawwassen Mills, being such a first-class shopping experience, was the perfect place for the Silk Threads pop-up, and for my Dr. Bonnie Henry snow lady to be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone.”

Dr. Bonnie Henry snow lady is currently being displayed in the window where Silk Threads will be held, near entry 3.
