Vancouver Police say they have arrested and charged a woman who allegedly assaulted a senior in the Downtown Eastside in October 2021.

Vancouver Police say they have arrested and charged a woman who allegedly assaulted a senior in the Downtown Eastside.

On the morning of Oct. 23, the 71-year-old victim was walking near International Village when investigators believe she was confronted by a woman at Abbott and Pender streets, explains a news release. The woman allegedly began screaming and yelling at her before she assaulted her.

The victim required hospitalization and suffered a broken arm.

“When people come forward to report crimes, we often have success in holding offenders accountable,” says VPD Sgt. Steve Addison. “Because this victim called police quickly, our officers were able to gather key evidence that led to the identification and arrest of a suspect.”

Danica Crystal Corke, 27, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, following an independent review of the evidence by the BC Prosecution Service.
