Delta-based courier service Ape Ship will be holding a donation campaign to support those who have been impacted by the hundreds of wildfires currently burning in B.C.

Taking place next Monday and Tuesday (Aug. 30 and 31) Ape Ship will be driving across the Metro Vancouver region to pick up donation items from local businesses.

Ape Ship has partnered up with ADRA (Adventist Development & Relief Agency) to make this campaign possible. ADRA is the global humanitarian arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church—part of the 20 million strong Adventist community, with hundreds of thousands of churches globally and the world’s largest integrated healthcare and education network.

Once the Ape Ship team has collected the items, they will be delivered to ADRA’s warehouse in Coldstream, where their team will distribute it to those most in need.

“We understand that many of our local businesses and residents want to help, but may not have the time or availability to delivery or drop off goods to a collection centre. That’s where we can really help out and make a difference for our community,” said Ben Martin, President and CEO of Evolution Group of Companies.

In addition to picking up donation items from local businesses, individuals can drop off items at the Ape Ship head office (6901 72 St #211, Delta).

Ape Ship will be accepting the following donation items:

• New undergarments (in the original bag)

• New pillows (in the original bag)

• Laundry soap, fabric softener

• Men and women’s razors and shaving cream

• Hotel size shampoo and conditioner, dental floss, combs and brushes, deodorant

• Small Kleenex packages and cotton swabs

• Bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, kitchen linen

• Small stuffies

“A lot of the people affected are missing essentials that we take for granted and often get overlooked,” added Martin. “We can put these essential items right into their hands, right away. We are a local, Delta owned and operated company; committed to supporting and engaging in our community whenever and wherever we can.”

Businesses interested in joining the donation campaign can email hamed.amiri@evolvewithus.ca. Deadline is this Friday, Aug. 27.
