CLUBS & GROUPS - Special Olympics BC Delta needs volunteer assistant coaches for our upcoming 2011-2012 season. Our Fall/Winter programs include floor hockey, curling, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, 5-pin bowling, basketball and alpine skiing.

- The Hospice Cottage Thrift Store in Tsawwassen is looking for volunteers for morning, afternoon and evening shifts on any day of the week. There is also a need for volunteers interested in books to join the book team. Please call 604-948-0660 and leave a message for Sandy Schmidt at ext.333.

- The volunteer "Delta Marine Unit" needs volunteers for organizing fund raising and events. Crew volunteers are also needed to train for this important humanitarian service. Saving lives and property at sea. If you love boating and the sea, you'll love this. We operate an enclosed all weather fast response lifeboat. We are based in Ladner Harbour. - Ambassadors Toastmasters club of Tsawwassen invites you to come out to our meeting at South Delta Library, 6: 45 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

- Please join the Delta Naturalists for our first meeting of the 2011 Fall Season on Monday, Sept. 12 at 7: 30 p.m. We meet at Cammidge House at Centennial Beach on Boundary Bay in Tsawwassen. Our speaker this month is ornithologist David Drummond. He will be speaking on "Urban Merlins of the Pacific Northwest". Merlins are forest falcons. - A McKee open house is set for Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year's open house will showcase instructional and drop-in programs. Come meet our new instructors. Kee Café Open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

- Registration for ElderCollege Delta's fall courses will take place at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. ElderCollege is open to all 50 years and over. FUND RAISERS

- COPS Run Inn For Cancer is set for Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the The 'Run Inn' Tsawwassen store, 1212B 56th St. Join the staff of the Run Inn and members of the Delta Police Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley Team for this fun family event. 5km Fun Run, Kids Run and pancake breakfast with all proceeds going to pediatric cancer research and Camp Goodtimes. Meet members of the Cops for Cancer Junior Team and support a wonderful cause. Cost will include a Cops "Run Inn" for Cancer t-shirt, run, breakfast and a chance to win some great prizes. Invite your friends and family and make this a huge event for the community! $30 Registration in person at the 'Run Inn' or phone 604-943-4661. Kids fun 2.5 km run $10 (includes run and pancakes).

ARTS

- Calling all singers! Under the continued leadership of musical director, Danielle Hamilton, the Delta Community Choir and Tapestry are set to begin another season of choral music. If you sing and would like to join, Registration and Auditions will be held Monday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in the hall of the Benediction Lutheran Church in Tsawwassen (corner of 6th and 56th). Auditions for the DCC (our large, SATB group) are for placement and pitch only. Auditions for Tapestry (our smaller, off-book ensemble) will be more comprehensive but no prepared piece is required.
