Fraser Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre in Delta.

The news came late Friday afternoon of the good news for the East Ladner long-term care facility.

“With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at this location,” said Fraser Health in a news release.

The outbreak at the 296-bed facility was declared in early November.

During the outbreak, sadly 13 residents died as a result of COVID-19.

On Friday, once the outbreak was declared over, Scott Fielding, vice president or operations, quality and clinical supports with The Good Samaritan Society, who manage Delta View Care Centre, sent a letter to all residents and their families.

"I am happy to report that the COVID-19 outbreak for the front building of our care home has been declared over, meaning the outbreak is over for the entire site," said Fielding. "Despite this, I can assure you that our employees remain diligent and are following all of the Public Health directives. I know the past few months have not been easy for our residents, their loved ones or our employees, and I would like to thank each of you for your patience, understanding and support as we have managed this outbreak."
