The East Ladner cannabis grower is selling organically certified products coast-to-coast.

An East Ladner cannabis greenhouse operation this week announced it has signed a supplier agreement with Shoppers Drug Mart Inc.

Rubicon Organics Inc. will supply medical cannabis products that will made available on the Medical Cannabis by Shoppers platform.

“Rubicon Organics has made great strides in consistently increasing its distribution across Canada and this supply agreement significantly advances the presence of our portfolio of brands in the Canadian medical cannabis channel. We have a deep product innovation portfolio that is equally applicable to the medical and recreational cannabis markets, and we expect to solidify our leadership position in the Canadian premium and organic cannabis segments as we roll-out our innovation across the country in the coming months,” said Rubicon CEO Jesse McConnell in a news release.

First launched in Ontario in 2019, Shoppers provides patients, who have the appropriate medical document, access to a number of products from Canadian licensed producers, ordered online and shipped directly.

Under current regulations, pharmacists cannot dispense medical cannabis from a pharmacy.

Growing organically certified product at its 125,000-square-foot facility on 104th Street, Rubicon Organics Inc., is smaller in scale compared to the huge Pure Sunfarms and Boundary Bay Cannabis greenhouse operations, which are also in East Ladner.

Boundary Bay Cannabis, a partnership between Agra Ventures Ltd. and Houweling Nurseries, recently announced it has received test results of successful batches of recent cannabis crop grown and harvested at the Delta greenhouse complex.

The company says all its upcoming crop sales will be made on a wholesale business-to-business basis to a Canadian licensed producer of cannabis until such a time that the company is both in possession of a sales license from Health Canada and deems the retail sales channel to be part of its competitive strategy.
