The BC Centre for Disease Control this week released its latest provincial map showing total COVID-19 numbers in municipalities since the pandemic began.

According to the map, covering the period January 2020 to April 2021, the City of Delta had 4,327 cumulative cases.

Last month’s map, covering the period January 2020 to March 2021, indicated Delta had 3,337 cases.

The BCCDC monthly and weekly numbers still don’t break down the cases among the individual communities of North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen.

However, North Delta is one of several communities listed as a high-transmission hot zone where residents 40 years of age and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine immediately.

The BCCDC’s latest weekly map, published online Thursday and covering the period April 25 to May 1, indicates Delta currently has 220 cases.

Meanwhile, the latest BCCDC monthly map indicates Surrey had 33,146 cumulative cases, up from 26,103 cases from last month’s map.

The latest monthly map also indicates Vancouver had 20,202 cumulative cases, Langley had 4,426, Abbotsford had 7,607, Burnaby had 9,724, Tri-Cities had 6,411 and Richmond had 3,670 cases.

The BCCDC’s latest situation report for week 16, covering the period from April 18-to-24, notes that since week 14, the Fraser Health Authority has gone through an incidence decrease from 221 to 180 per 100,000 people.

Most age-specific incidences in the province peaked in week 14, according to the BCCDC.

More than two million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C. as of Thursday, May 6.
