Delta planning major Ladner sewer upgrade

The design work involves a number of surveys and geotechnical investigations
ladner sewer project
The preliminary design of the project is to be completed no later than February 2022.

The City of Delta is planning to undertake a major sanitary sewer and watermain replacement project in Ladner.

Delta has issued a request for bids from engineering consulting companies for the preliminary design, detailed design and construction management services for upgrading approximately 460 metres of existing sanitary trunk sewer along Elliott Street from Bridge Street to a proposed pump station on 51 Street.

The project will also involve upgrading approximately 300 metres of existing watermain along Elliott Street between Chisholm Street and 48 Avenue.

According to the city, the existing sanitary trunk main and watermain along the corridor have been in service for approximately 60 years and are in need of an upgrade to accommodate planned higher density in the area.

The project will involve investigating the future flows for the catchment area and determining the proposed pipe sizes.

Delta plans to construct a new sanitary pump station adjacent to the 51 Street and 47A Avenue intersection in 2021.

The proposed pump station drawings will be provided to the successful consultant.

The existing watermain section between River Road and Trenant Street was replaced in 1990 and does not require an upgrade.
