Delta police are looking for several potential witnesses in a fatal pedestrian collision in Ladner this week.

At about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of 48th Avenue and Elliott Street.

A 43-year-old woman had been crossing 48th Avenue and was struck by a car making a left hand turn onto 48th Avenue from Elliott.

Delta police spokesperson Sgt. Sharlene Brooks said the driver of the car, a gray Nissan, that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and was joined by two men who tried to help the victim.

"The victim was transported to hospital for medical treatment," she said. "Sadly, the victim, a 43-year-old female resident of Delta, succumbed to her injuries at hospital with family by her side."

As a result of the initial investigation, Brooks said, police believe there were witnesses to the collision that have not yet spoken to police.

Investigators are looking to identify and speak to the two males who stopped at the scene to help the victim, and the driver, described as an older female, of a burgundy minivan.

"This minivan is believed to have been at or near the intersection at the time of the collision and the driver may have information that would assist police."

In addition to those identified, Brooks said investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Const. Lisa Coupar at 604-946-4411 and quote file 11-20410.
