DPD winter driving tips
Following the big dump of snow on Wednesday night, Delta Police are offering the community some winter driving tips.

Delta has woken up to yet another winter wonderland!

Last night, (Wednesday) Delta Police officers attended numerous vehicle-related calls due to the weather. While no injuries were reported in these minor collisions, both weather and inexperience in driving in snowy conditions were reported as factors in the collision.

We thought we'd take this opportunity to help you brush up on some winter driving tips.

• Be prepared and plan ahead - check driving conditions on DriveBc.ca

• Be equipped with winter tires- all season tires can begin to lose their elasticity and grip on the road at temperatures below 7°C.

• SLOW DOWN - posted speed limits are designed for ideal road conditions. Slow down when driving on snow, ice, slush or rain.

• Allow yourself at least twice the normal braking distance on wet or slippery roads.

• Low beams are more effective in fog or heavy snow.
