The latest Tell Us Where To Go initiative by the Delta Police has been deemed a success.

The initiative is a community engagement event where DPD officers work with the public to provide officers with locations for traffic enforcement.

“We have the public participate through engagement, conversations via social media,” said media relations officer Const. Leisa Schaefer. “The goal was education rather than enforcement.”

The initiative was held on Thursday, June 16 throughout the community.

Schaefer said 70 comments and direct messages came in to the DPD Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter platforms from across Delta.

All 70 locations were visited and observed, with DPD Traffic members speaking with numerous concerned citizens in the areas. Complaints stemmed from speeding, red light running and school zone concerns.

A total of 10 violation tickets were served, including one violation ticket for speeding in a school zone (64 km/hr in a 30 km/hr zone), with an excessive speeder driving 125 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone had their car impounded.

DPD plans to host another event in the fall.
