The Grade 12 carpentry class at Delta Secondary is on the lookout for a project.
Every year, the class takes on a project, usually a cabin or similar structure. Students work on the frame at the school throughout the year and then in the spring disassemble the structure and move it to its permanent location before reassembling and finishing the frame.
Other trades are then brought in to install any plumbing and electrical elements, and add any finishing touches.
Teacher Wayne McKinnon said he had a project all lined up for this year's class but the owner had to back out at the last minute. He is now scrambling to find a new project for his students.
Usually the class tackles an out-of-town, vacation-type property.
