Let’s take a step back to the late 1960s and visit the new Delta Town & Country Inn.
The hotel played host to countless guests and functions for over 50 years.
The hotel at the junction of highways 17A and 99 was torn down a couple of years ago to make way for Gateway’s $87-million casino/hotel complex now under construction.
Peter Toigo purchased the hotel in the early 1980s and the site remains under the family’s ownership.
Gateway, which signed a long-term lease for the site, currently won’t provide a date when the new facility is expected to open.
Gateway notes that’s because its resources continue to be focused on re-opening its existing casinos and adjusting to the challenges of the “new normal” that COVID-19 has brought to the gaming industry.
