The North Delta Lions Club notes that from 1967 to 2007, the picnic part of Family Day was held at Lions Annieville Park. In 2008 the picnic and other activities were moved to North Delta Community Park.

Here's a throwback from the pages of the Optimist showing residents enjoying a great afternoon at North Delta's Family Day on July 1, 1969.

North Delta Family Day has been a community festival held on or near July 1, celebrating the family as well as Canada Day and cultural heritage.

The first North Delta Family Day started out as a celebration marking Canada's Centennial in 1967.

The original sponsor of Family Day was the Delta Ratepayers Association.

It was sponsored since 1970 by the North Delta Lions Club.

The event is just one of many public gatherings in Delta that once again had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Lions Club on its website notes it’s looking into how to hold that event as well as others, while other events are listed as cancelled or to be announced.
