Delta throwback: Remembering May Days (PHOTOS)

Established in 1896, the Ladner Pioneer May Days is one of the province's largest free family fairs.

Let’s go back in time and check out some past memories of the long-running Ladner Pioneer May Days, a popular annual festival held at Memorial Park.

It had to be cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Held every May and usually having a different theme, the festival also had to be cancelled this year

However, it will be a virtual event May 28, 29 and 30.

Delta council recently agreed to provide a grant to help the event’s committee hold virtual activities planned for 2021.

They include a parade, slideshow of traditional maypole dances, May Days market where viewers can browse and shop online, educational elements, gold panning demonstration and story time activities.

Delta staff have reached out to the North Delta Family Day and Tsawwassen Sun Festival committees who are also considering virtual events.
